If they are using Lufthansa's special assistance or, alternatively, if they are traveling with a friend who is at least twelve years old, children between the ages of five and eleven are permitted to fly alone. However, parents can also provide care for youngsters between the ages of 12 and 17 who are traveling alone. A small child who travels alone and is not accompanied by a parent or other legal guardian is referred to as a Lufthansa Unaccompanied Minor.
