While some may reel at the concept of Diablo 2 Resurrected followers

For those unaware, in Diablo 2 you would hire followers to descend upon those gates with you. However, when they were killed you had to bring them back with cold, hard cash. There was a new follower in every zone, which means they were superior to other followers.

While some may reel at the concept of Diablo 2 Resurrected followers, like their or dislike them they have become a staple part of the action game's combat. I inquired with Blizzard what plans it has for aids in Diablo 2 Resurrected, and while they didn't divulge too much yet, it appears that followers will join with the group at some point.Speaking to lead class designer Adam Z. Jackson in the wake following the Diablo 2 Resurrected gameplay preview, I asked if the D2R Items system for followers would be similar to Diablo 2 or Diablo 3 If there were any even a possibility.

For those unaware, in Diablo 2 you would hire followers to descend upon those gates with you. However, when they were killed you had to bring them back with cold, hard cash. There was a new follower in every zone, which means they were superior to other followers.

The idea was further developed into Diablo 3, where instead hiring mercenaries, players got three different companions throughout the story campaign. The Scoundrel, Sorceress and Templar who represented different aspects of DPS tank, ranged DPS, and magic player respectively. In the course of my Diablo 2 Resurrected adventure I only encountered helpful NPCs that hung around for a dungeon or two and then departed to the sunset. When I inquired of Jackson how the game's follower function will work it was explained that "for the launch Version of Diablo 2 Resurrected, we do have places in the story in particular where you will have certain named NPCs following you and helping you out as you figure out the what Lilith is doing in the world.

"We don't have anything to make public about the Diablo 2 type follower you've hired - - we're going to stick to the campaign for now." It's all about the present.

With a wry smile , they continue "stay and watch, we could have something exciting in the near-term to announce , but we cannot make any promises." This immediately prompted an immediate response from the producer of the dungeon Ash Sweetring, who channelled her character"Mr. Burns with an 'interesting hand motion on the screen. What's that? That's sus.If any version of the follower system does make it into Diablo 2 Resurrected, I would prefer a Diablo-style hired gun instead of the ubiquitous players. I enjoyed the wide range of different abilities followers brought to the cheap D2R Items table within Diablo 2 and would love to see it reimagined. It creates more possibilities for various designs, and incredible ability chains for demons.
