A Nature-Inspired Isle Of Skye Elopement

Geotechnical engineer Richard and environmental consultant eloped to Quiraing around the Isle of Skye, Scotland on 29 September 2021 for his or her magical humanist ceremony, enjoying a romantic picnic afterward within the breath-taking Fairy Glen.

We are thrilled our recommended supplier and directory member, captured these images.

Charlotte and Richard met through operation in 2013 and were engaged in March 2020. The Covid-19 pandemic encouraged the pair to plan their intimate micro-wedding.

"We both started working for that same company in 2013 and started our relationship in 2014. We still work at the same company, at opposite ends of the same open-plan office. We got engaged in Vik, Iceland on 2 March 2020. The trip was planned for my 30th birthday and we were lucky it pre-dated any travel restrictions."

"The day from the engagement was action-packed once we had snorkeled in icy cold waters at Silfra within the morning also it ended using the proposal at our hotel in Vik after stopping on see Strokkur Geyser and numerous waterfalls. We initially started viewing wedding venues with thoughts of getting a more industrial-themed big day."

"With the lockdown measures in position during 2020 and also the continuing uncertainty of whether weddings could be going ahead both of us started to consider other options. We understood that outdoor ceremonies in Scotland remained as permitted under lockdown restrictions and, once we both desired to explore much more of Scotland, the Isle of Skye was an ideal place. We were very lucky (and grateful) our suppliers were so flexible in connection with this."

For the outdoor celebration, Richard wore an environmentally friendly wool blazer with tobacco-colored chinos along with a tie.

His white shirt and his pocket square were from. For added warmth, he wore a proper wool coat and leather brogue boots.

"Richard wore some bespoke cufflinks from, commissioned by me. The cufflinks were produced from pieces of lava collected on the beach at Vik the morning as we got engaged. We desired to add some traditional symbolic gestures into our ceremony: For the handfasting, we used a conventional braided cord purchased which I personalized by having an Ormer shell to represent Richard’s birthplace of Guernsey along with a Yorkshire pressed wildflower pendant to represent the house."

The wedding couple exchanged rings; Charlotte's would be a platinum braided band and Richard decided on a textured Sheffield Steel band.

"Richard was attracted to a Sheffield Steel ring because he attended Sheffield University. We carried our wedding bands within an oak burr ring box made by hand in England."

Charlotte's earrings were antique rose gold and moonstone from Leeds. She wore her hair down in loose curls, styled by Heather on Skye.

"I chose moonstone as it's traditionally been seen as a romantic gemstone. Something borrowed. from my mum, would be a silver and rose gold rose ring. My necklace would be a silver anvil pendant, a present from my sister to celebrate our elopement."

"I was browsing feeltimes.co.uk and found my dress."

"It had all of the elements I was searching for – a greater neckline, sleeves along with a long train (to hopefully blow within the wind!) using the bonus to be backless. I hadn't anticipated purchasing a dress by doing this but after researching the gown maker I chose to take the plunge."

"I knew that I wanted vintage wedding dresses, especially when considering the landscape, I was to be married in coupled with our selection of flowers. I loved the drama from the long train and just how it billowed within the wind."

After their marriage, the pair found a sheltered destination to toast their union.

"We purchased non-perishable picnic treats and perishable foods from the local bakery. We tucked into cheese and pickle sandwiches and truffle crisps. Our wedding cake would be vegan black forest gateaux decorated with handmade macarons, fresh blackberries, and strawberries."

Words of Wedded Wisdom

"As a few, we're quite reserved and there am little pressure on both the look process and around the day itself that people would recommend this to anyone. Our day was at our very own pace and all we'd to focus on was one another. Everything just fell into place."
