A Secret Garden Inspired Barn Wedding

This sweet couple celebrated their marriage on 5 August 2019 within the Surrey Hills; an attractive, oak timber-framed barn constructed from trees lost within the Great Storm of 1987.

"My favorite movie is The Secret Garden, and I took many of the floral inspiration for that wedding out of this film. Our color palette was pinks, greens, and hints of copper and gold. We wanted our wedding to become soft, enchanting, and pretty. We like the nation cottage/vintage look, which is how we've decorated the house, therefore we took this as our main inspiration. We wanted our wedding to become family orientated and welcoming."

There were flowers throughout Megan's off-the-shoulder dress, chosen in Dorking – both appliqué and embroidery, having a layer of delicate sparkle and an attractive, fishtail silhouette.

"My mum and sister selected the dress from the rack, and I know most people are biased about their wedding gown, but honestly it may be the most whimsical, wonderful dress I have ever seen, and I was completely surprised with how I felt. I wanted an argument dress, and I loved the applique, embroidered flowers left all over the gown."

"The construction from the never-ending train blew my thoughts, and also the truly scrumptious buttons around the back were a detail I always wanted. The dress is sparkly, and who doesn't wish to sparkle on their big day?! The dress includes a secret hidden zip so I was able to obtain dressed last minute around the day, that was great!"

The bridesmaids looked lovely in emerald green bridesmaid dresses, that they wore with shoes and sandals, and diamond stud earrings. On the morning of the wedding, Megan presented these inside a goodie bag along having a silk robe, personalized slippers, a hanger, and pajamas, in addition to a make-up bag containing essentials. There were also hair clips and bands, mints, and Prosecco glasses.

"My super proud dad walked me on the aisle. There were lots of happy tears before the ceremony. I walked on the aisle to Canon in D by Johann Pachelbel. It was the same piece of music that my mum walked on the aisle to marry my father 22 years before." Click

To minimize any nerves, and also to spend more time with their guests, Megan and Benjamin kept their ceremony short and sweet, with simple vows exchanged alongside rings. Megan decided on a white gold diamond band, whilst Benjamin chose a simple white gold band.

Benjamin wore a blue three-piece suit, that they paired having a crisp, white shirt and green tie, and shoes.

"We met in July 2013 inside a local pub near to where we live. I had just finished university, and Benjamin was working full-time at the same company he works best for now."

"When I and my sister arrived, we said hello to our friends, I visited the bar, and I noticed Jack, who I visited junior school with. We started chatting along with a little while later my sister came over and asserted she was leaving to visit a golf club with our friends. So, I believed Jack that I would head home and that he invited me to join him and his friends. I sat alongside Benjamin, and we spoke for a long time. He came out in the end from the evening and examined my car, as I thought I were built with a flat tire – which I did!"

Three weeks later Megan and Benjamin officially became a couple, and 2 years next, they purchased a house together before becoming engaged in May 2018.

"Benjamin proposed in my experience at Anne Hathaway's cottage in Stratford-upon-Avon, encompassed by roses and sunflowers. We have been together for six years now and also have never looked back!"

"If you are searching for evening entertainment, we'd highly recommend supplying a photo booth for the guests. We went for any rustic open booth to accompany our theme, and also the quality of the prints was fantastic. It's nice for that guests to consider a little keepsake from the day home together, too."

"Benjamin: The ceremony was my favorite part of the day – seeing the love of my entire life walking down the aisle. She looked stunning. The whole day was magical and something we will never forget."

"Megan: Standing with my dad within the waiting area ready to visit in for that ceremony was my favorite part. 14 months of planning came right down to this moment. No more stress and worry. We checked out each other and said, 'Let's do that,' and he told me he was super happy with me, and also to enjoy every moment. My mum said I was beaming from ear to ear when I walked on the aisle and I was!"

Words of Wedded Wisdom

"Be prepared for individuals to let you down – we did have people not turn up towards the wedding, it's always likely to happen but don't allow it to bother you – the people who care about your needs will be there and that's all that matters."
